NEW ORLEANS (Sept. 25, 2026): The Allstate Sugar Bowl is celebrating the achievements of outstanding collegiate athletes from the New Orleans area through its New Orleans Athlete Spotlight, presented by LCMC Health. Throughout the fall of 2026, the series will showcase the accomplishments of local standouts who are making an impact on college campuses across the country.

Cam East, Marrero, La./St. Augustine/Tulsa
A fixture on the offensive line, Cam East has guided the Hurricanes to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2008 season. Tulsa looks for its first 4-0 start to the season when they face Arkansas on Saturday. A standout at St. Augustine, East has started the first three games leading the offense to an average of 29.7 points per game and 220.3 rushing yards per game.

A 6-foot-3, 330-pound left tackle, East has started 13 career games at Tulsa and Ole Miss. He started 10 games at Tulsa in 2025, helping guide TU to 175.5 rushing yards per game, a 25-yard improvement from the 2024 season. He assisted the offense in paving the way for the 23rd 1,000-yard rusher in TU history as the Hurricanes averaged 397.9 yards per game of total offense.

Before transferring to Tulsa, East played three years at Ole Miss and appeared in four games. He appeared in two games as a redshirt freshman in 2023 as he faced Mercer and ULM and played in two games as a true freshman and was redshirted.

Coming out of St. Aug, East was rated a three-star prospect by all major recruiting sites. The redshirt senior was rated as the No. 28 offensive tackle and No. 17 player in Louisiana by On3. A second team all-state selection as a junior, East was a two-time all-district honoree and helped lead St. Augustine to the LHSAA Division I Quarterfinals.
