NEW ORLEANS (September 22, 2026) – Four New Orleans-area high school quarterbacks have been named this week's Manning Award Futures by the Allstate Sugar Bowl following standout performances during games played September 18-19.
The recognition is called "Futures" because these high school stars are potential future candidates for the Manning Award, which the Allstate Sugar Bowl created in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. The award recognizes the nation's top collegiate quarterback each year.
Since the Futures program began in 2020, the Sugar Bowl has recognized 136 quarterbacks from 58 different high schools.
Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 9/22/26
Romy Berel – Pearl River (11-of-21, 329 pass yards, 4 TDs)- Berel completed 11-of-21 passes for 329 yards and four touchdowns and rushed six times for 36 yards as Pearl River defeated Fontainebleau, 42-30. Trailing by two touchdowns in the first half on Homecoming night, Berel tossed a pair of scoring passes in the second quarter to tie the game. The senior helped the Rebels pull away in the second half. Pearl River opened the second half with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Berel to Kendrick Lee for a 28-21 lead that the Rebels would not relinquish.
TJ Green – St. Martin's Episcopal (13-of-20, 212 pass yards, 3 TDs)- A senior, Green completed 13-of-20 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns in a 33-16 win over Glen Oaks, giving St. Martin's its second straight victory of the season.
Jaelle Noble – St. Augustine (13-of-19, 176 pass yards, 3 TDs)- A junior, Noble completed 13-of-19 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-7 win over East Ascension. Noble led St. Augustine to touchdowns on its first four possessions, including a 50-yard catch-and-run touchdown pass to Lucas Jefferson that extended the lead to 34-7.
Landen Teague – Hahnville (11-of-14, 321 total yards, 3 total TDs)- A senior, Teague completed 11-of-14 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown and rushed seven times for 39 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-31 win over E.D. White.
The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 29 national champions, 114 Hall of Fame players, 55 Hall of Fame coaches and 21 Heisman Trophy winners over its 92-year history.
The 93rd Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, serving as a College Football Playoff Semifinal, will be played January 15, 2027.
