Tre Garrison - Athlete of the Month, December 2025NEW ORLEANS (January 7, 2026) – Tre Garrison, the workhorse running back for the Edna Karr High School football team, has been selected as December's Allstate Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month presented by LCMC Health. Athletes of the month have been selected by the New Orleans Sports Awards Committee since 1957. The athlete must be a native of the greater New Orleans area or must compete for a team in the metropolitan region to be eligibleGarrison is the second Karr football player to earn the honor this season as quarterback John Johnson was recognized for October.

Garrison was a primary force as Karr finished an unbeaten season with two wins in December for a second consecutive LHSAA Division I Select state championship. In two December games, Garrison rushed 67 times for 310 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 10 yards. In the state championship game victory over St. Augustine, the 5-11, 195-pound Garrison set a school record with 41 carries for 189 yards and a touchdown as he was named the MVP of the game.

"That's amazing," said Karr head coach Brice Brown, of the 41 carries, which also set a Division I/Class 5A title game record. "I don't think we've ever (had a back rush 41 times) in our school's history, because we like to throw it."

"I trust my team," said Garrison. "As long we play together, everything's going to fall into place."

He also had 26 carries for 121 yards in a state semifinal win over Catholic-Baton Rouge on Dec. 5. Garrison has signed to play at Oregon State.
