Allstate Sugar Bowl New Orleans Athlete Spotlight

High schools from the New Orleans area have sent many outstanding athletes around the country to play at the collegiate level. The Allstate Sugar Bowl will highlight the outstanding achievements of athletes from the Crescent City throughout the fall of 2025 with its New Orleans Athlete Spotlights, presented by LCMC Health.

Megan LaCour - Chapelle/Belhaven Volleyball

September 5 – Megan LaCour, Archbishop Chapelle/Belhaven University Volleyball
LaCour had an outstanding sophomore season at Belhaven, as she was named to the All-Collegiate Conference of the South First Team. She helped lead the Blazers to a top four seed in the CCS Tournament as she posted a career-high 241 kills and a career-best .166 kill percentage while leading the Belhaven attack. LaCour also made an impact defensively with a career-high 254 digs and 26.0 total blocks. A 2021 graduate of Archbishop Chapelle, she was a two-time all-district volleyball selection and also earned Academic All-State recognition to go with her school's Linda Munn Award for leadership. A member of the National Honor Society, she qualified for Chapelle's Distinguished Honor Roll for five years and was the recipient of an Allstate Sugar Bowl Women in Sport Scholarship. The Blazers are in action this weekend at the East Texas Baptist University Tournament.

Brody Reina - New Orleans Athlete Spotlight, 8/29/25 - St. Paul's to Davidson Football

August 29 - Brody Reina, St. Paul's/Davidson College Football
After back-to-back years of earning honorable mention all-conference in the Pioneer Football League, Reina is aiming for a big year to close his career at Davidson. The 6-1, 190-pounder led the Wildcats in catches, receiving yards, touchdowns, and yards per catch in 2024. He collected five passes of 30 yards or more and closed his junior season with a career-high five catches for 118 yards. Also a three-time all-academic selection, Reina is a Covington product and a 2022 graduate of St. Paul's School where he played four years for head coach Ken Sears. Reina finished with 1,458 yards and 12 touchdowns on 77 receptions during his time at St. Paul's, amassing nearly 19 yards per catch average. He set the school record with 257 receiving yards in one game. He was also a two-time All-District 6-5A performer and was named to the Academic All-State team in 2021. Davidson opens its season on August 30 against Georgetown.
