Allstate Sugar Bowl New Orleans Athlete Spotlights 2021

High schools from the New Orleans area have sent many outstanding football players around the country to play collegiately. The Allstate Sugar Bowl will spotlight local stars playing away from the Crescent City throughout the 2022 season.

Chester Kimbrough, Nola Athlete Spotlight 2021OCTOBER 30 SPOTLIGHT – Chester Kimbrough, Michigan State
Kimbrough, a 2019 graduate of Warren Easton High School, helped the Eagles to four trips to the LHSAA state semifinals, including a run to the Class 4A championship game as a senior. The six foot, 180-pound defensive back has started the last six games for Michigan State and will be a key player on Saturday as the eighth-ranked and undefeated Spartans take on No. 6 Michigan, also undefeated. NOVEMBER 5 SPOTLIGHT – Montrell Johnson, Louisiana
Johnson, a 5-11 freshman running back for the Ragin’ Cajuns, helped De La Salle to the 2020 LHSAA Championship game, rushing for 182 yards and four scores. He opened his college career strong, tallying a pair of 100-yard games, including a 150-yard performance against Appalachian State that featured a 99-yard touchdown run.
 
NOVEMBER 11, SPOTLIGHT – Tyrin Arceneaux, West Georgia
Arceneaux, a 6-3 senior offensive lineman at West Georgia who has been drawing the attention of NFL scouts, prepped at St. Charles Catholic where he was All-Metro, All-District, and the O-line MVP of the high school All-America game. The Wolves wrap up their season today at home against Delta State at 1 p.m. #Nola #Spotlight #FeedYourSoul
 
NOVEMBER 18 SPOTLIGHT – Keytaon Thompson, Virginia
Thompson, a 6-5 senior athlete for Virginia, was an all-around star at Landry-Walker High School. He helped his school to a total of three state championships (two in football and one in basketball) and was the first player from Landry to earn Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year honors in football. He lines up all over the field for the Cavaliers and has had three 100-yard receiving games while also rushing for over 200 yards and four touchdowns.
 
NOVEMBER 25 SPOTLIGHT – Joe Foucha, Arkansas
An all-state selection at McDonogh 35 under legendary coach Wayne Reese in 2017, Foucha is in his fourth season in the defensive backfield for Arkansas. He has had seven games with five or more tackles this year, including an 11-tackle performance in the wild 52-51 loss to Ole Miss on Oct. 9. For his career, he has over 200 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss.
