NEW ORLEANS (September 13, 2025) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl served as the presenting sponsor of the Inspire the City Invitational in Honor of Ed Daniels on Friday, September 12, at the Caesars Superdome. The event opened with Archbishop Rummel High School (Metairie, La.) topping University Lab High School (Baton Rouge, La.). The featured match-up saw Edna Karr High School (New Orleans) win an overtime thriller against American Heritage High School (Florida) in a showdown between nationally ranked powerhouses.

In the featured game, Edna Karr's offense struggled, but a last-minute drive was capped by a Brayan Castellon field goal to knot the game at 17 and force overtime. Karr quarterback John Johnson scored on a touchdown dash to put the Cougars on top and then linebacker Kevin Martin wrapped up the American Heritage ball carrier on fourth down to deliver the win to the local stars.

Rummel ran for 230 yards and Jaden Terrance scored on a 97-yard kick return to lead the Raiders to a 30-17 victory over U-High in the opening game.

Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 29 national champions, 110 Hall of Fame players, 55 Hall of Fame coaches and 21 Heisman Trophy winners in its 91-year history. The 92nd Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, which will double as a College Football Playoff Quarterfinal, is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2026. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards, scholarships and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors thousands of student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.5 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
