Sugar Bowl Fans Have Multiple Opportunities to Celebrate New Orleans Style

Fireworks Across River 2020

NEW ORLEANS (December 29) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl will provide multiple opportunities for fans from Georgia and Mississippi as well as for locals and other visitors from around the world to celebrate New Year's Eve in true New Orleans style.

The official Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year's Parade presented by Louisiana Tourism will get things started at 2 p.m. in the French Quarter. A Mardi Gras-style parade with floats, bands and other participants, the Sugar Bowl Parade will start at the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and Decatur Street. It will travel through the French Quarter up Decatur Street along the Mississippi River, passing iconic landmarks such as The Old US Mint, the French Market, Cafe du Monde and Jackson Square. The Parade will wrap up at Canal Street.

The band and cheerleaders from each school will also take part in the parade – The Redcoat Band from Georgia is often referred to as the "Heart of the Bulldog Spirit" while The Pride of the South from Ole Miss celebrates its largest marching band since its creation in 1928.

Fans, visitors, and locals are invited to keep the celebration going after the official Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year's Parade with the Allstate Sugar Bowl Fest after-party on the Audubon Aquarium Exterior Plaza (1 Canal Street). The family-friendly Allstate Sugar Bowl Fest will feature live music, a Ferris wheel, New Orleans style food and drink for purchase, an official Sugar Bowl merchandise shop, and much more. The party will begin after the parade ends (gates open at 3 p.m.).

In addition to the New Year's Parade and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Fest, the Sugar Bowl is a proud sponsor of the NOLA New Year's Eve Fireworks Show. Produced by the Crescent City Countdown Club in partnership with the New Orleans Tourism and Cultural Fund, this beloved tradition is a community project made possible by New Orleans & Company, with the Allstate Sugar Bowl and many other dedicated community sponsors. The fireworks show will follow a free New Year's Eve Concert that begins at 9:00 pm in Woldenberg Park.

This spectacular free fireworks display can be seen along the historic New Orleans Riverfront in downtown New Orleans on the East Bank of the Mississippi River, from Canal Street (upriver) to Esplanade Avenue (downriver), and on the West Bank. At the stroke of midnight an intense barrage of colors – including the team colors of the contenders in the College Football Playoff (CFP) Quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl – will light up the dark sky. A link to the New Orleans fireworks music used to choreograph the fireworks – including the fight songs of the contenders in the Allstate Sugar Bowl CFP Quarterfinal – can be found on WWL.com.

For fans that can't make it to New Orleans, the Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year's Parade will be broadcast live on Nola38CW (WNOL-TV) in New Orleans. The official broadcast, presented by Sunshine Quality Solutions, will include a live online broadcast that can be found by visiting wgno.com.
