MANDEVILLE, La. (November 8, 2025) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl Metro New Orleans High School Championship Swim Meet was held this weekend at Franco's Health Club and Spa. Mandeville sophomore Avery Daigle had a memorable performance at the meet as she earned Outstanding Swimmer honors on the girls side. Daigle, who was also the Outstanding Swimmer last year as a freshman, posted her personal-best times in three events, including posting an All-America qualifying time of 53.72 in the 100-yard butterfly. She also won the 100-backstroke with an All-America consideration time of 55.31, posted a meet record in the 50-freestyle at 23.14, and keyed the winning 200-fresstyle relay team (1:39.06).

On the boys side, Jesuit senior Aidan Villars registered an All-American consideration time of 49.16 in the 100-butterfly and also won the 100-backstroke (51.91) to earn the meet's Outstanding Swimmer honor.

An All-American consideration time means the individual will become an All-American in that event if the time remains among the top 100 in the country at the end of the year.

Dominican recorded 373 points to finish ahead of Mount Carmel (317.5), Mandeville (305), Northshore (254), and E.D. White (164). For Dominican, junior Kendall Jollands finished second to Daigle in two individual events but swam on two winning relay teams, including the 200-medley relay that set a metro meet record at 1 minute, 47.78 seconds. Her second-place time of 54.48 in the 100-butterfly was an All-American consideration placement.

For the boys side, Jesuit tallied 359.5 points while E.D. White was second with 342 points. Northshore notched 318 points while St. Paul's (182) and Rummel (141.5) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Sugar Bowl Metro High School Championship is the premier swimming event for high school athletes in the metropolitan area. The popularity and significance of the event exceeds that of the city and state championship meets as it includes the schools of all five classes of LHSAA, including public and private schools – ensuring that the best swimmers compete against each other, regardless of classification. The meet includes schools not only from New Orleans but also from the Northshore and other metropolitan areas.

The Metro Championship is sanctioned by U.S. Swimming and this is the 13th year that the Allstate Sugar Bowl has sponsored this event.

The mission of the Allstate Sugar Bowl is to sponsor and promote amateur sporting events which will foster revenue and spark economic growth in the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. Through its year-round slate of events, the organization has generated over $2.5 billion of economic impact for the city and the state in the last decade alone.
