NEW ORLEANS (December 23, 2024) – Fans of all ages attending the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Wednesday, January 2, 2025, are invited to converge on Champions Square at the Caesars Superdome before the game to enjoy the NewOrleans.com Allstate Sugar Bowl Tailgate Town hosted by New Orleans & Company, the official pre-game party. Gates open at 1 p.m. for Tailgate Town while the Allstate Sugar Bowl is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m.
Fans must have a Sugar Bowl game ticket to access Tailgate Town.
Tailgate Town, which is open at 11 a.m., will feature food, drinks, interactive games, and lots of entertainment. The band and cheerleaders from each school will perform - The University of Notre Dame Band is the oldest collegiate band in continuous existence in the United States, while The Redcoat Band is often referred to as the "Heart of the Bulldog Spirit."
Fans attending Tailgate Town are encouraged to visit the New Orleans & Company activation to sign up to enter to win a trip back to New Orleans to experience French Quarter Festival in April 2025. Superdome doors are scheduled to open at 1 p.m. for the highly anticipated playoff matchup between the seventh- seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs. The winner of this year's game will advance to the College Football Playoff Semifinal in Miami.
Please note that the Superdome has a no re-entry policy, and entry into Tailgate Town constitutes entry into the Superdome.
Georgia (11-2, 6-2 SEC) earned the No. 2 seed from the College Football Playoff Selection Committee following its 22-19 overtime victory over Texas in the SEC Championship game on December 7. The Bulldogs will be the 96th conference champion to play in the Sugar Bowl in its 91-year history. Georgia will be making its 12th Sugar Bowl appearance with an all-time mark of 5-6.
Notre Dame (12-1) defeated No. 10 Indiana, 27-17, in South Bend On December 20 in the first-ever College Football Playoff First-Round Game to advance to the Playoff Quarterfinals. The Fighting Irish will be making their fifth Sugar Bowl appearance and its first since 2007. On December 31, 1973, in the 40th annual Sugar Bowl, Notre Dame earned a national championship by defeating Alabama, 24-23, in one of the greatest college football showdowns in history.
One of the more memorable Sugar Bowls of all-time featured both Notre Dame and Georgia as the top-ranked Bulldogs capped a perfect season in the 1981 Sugar Bowl with a thrilling 17-10 victory over the Fighting Irish.
