Darren Dixon - November 1979 Athlete of the Month

Dixon, the captain of the St. Augustine state champion football team, was selected as the co-winner of the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for November of 1979. Dixon, the Purple Knights' quarterback was cited for his performance in St. Aug's 24-7 victory over previously unbeaten Jesuit.
He shared the honor with Marty Wetzel, the defensive captain of the 9-2 Tulane football team that meets Penn State in the Liberty Bowl on Saturday, was cited for his exceptional performance in Tulane's 24-14 victory over LSU.
