Kenny Spellman - February 1984 Athlete of the Month

Spellman, the star wrestler at Brother Martin, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for February of 1984. Spellman capped an undefeated senior season with his third straight state championship. The senior was 35-0 during the season in the 132-pound division and won seven matches in February.
He won each of his state titles in a different weight class. As a sophomore in 1982, Spellman was 26-9-1 on his way to the state title in the 105-pound division. His junior year, he won the 119-pound state title after compiling a 21-6 record. His three-year record is 82-15-1.
