Rley, a catcher/designated hitter for the Tulane baseball team, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for April of 1983. The Green Wave junior hit .377 during the month as Tulane posted a 15-6 record. The Wave, which was awarded a postseason bid on Monday, finished the season with a 41-13 record and was runner-up in the recently completed Metro Conference tournament.
