Paul Thompson - December 1982 Athlete of the Month

Thompson, the star forward for the Tulane men's basketball team, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for December of 1982. Thompson scored 169 points (18.8 ppg) and grabbed 68 rebounds (7.6 rpg) in nine games during December. He was selected to the all-tournament teams in the Sugar Bowl and Kentucky Cafe tournaments.
Thompson's scoring surge in December made him Tulane's No. 2 career point producer with 1,542 points, second to Phil Hicks. He surpassed Hicks in January.
Other nominees in the December balloting were UNO basketball player Wade Blundell, St. Augustine High School basketball player Tyrone Lewis, Southwestern Louisiana's Graylin Warner, and UNO wome's basketball stars Sandra Hodge.
