Petteway, a sophomore forward for the UNO basketball team, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for December of 1980. The 6-7 graduate of Brother Martin was selected primarily for his efforts in the Sugar Bowl Basketball Tournament. Petteway scored 42 points in the two nights and was selected to the all-tournament team.
