Shawn Pepp - January 1989 Athlete of the Month

Pepp, the standout forward for the Holy Cross High School boys basketball team, was a co-winner of the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for January of 1989. Pepp averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
He shared the honor with Keith Johnson from Riverdale High School. Johnson, the city's leading scorer, increased his 34-point-per-game average to 37.7 during January.
Other nominees for the January Award were Carvie Upshaw, senior center for the UNO Buckettes, and Beau Harvey, senior forward at Holy Cross.
