Keith Johnson - January 1989 Athlete of the Month

Johnson, the high-scoring star of the Riverdale High School boys basketball team, was a co-winner of the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for January of 1989. Johnson, the city's leading scorer, increased his 34-point-per-game average to 37.7 during January.
He shared the honor with Shawn Pepp from Carver High School. Pepp averaged 19.5 points and 6.5Â rebounds per game.
Other nominees for the January Award were Carvie Upshaw, senior center for the UNO Buckettes, and Beau Harvey, senior forward at Holy Cross.
