Kenny Francingues - May 1979 Athlete of the Month

Francingues, the ace pitcher for the Tulane baseball team, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for May of 1979. Francingues was cited by the committee for his sensational pitching in the Metro Conference baseball tournament staged in Tallahassee, Fla., from May 10-13. The Green Wave pitcher won two games, including a 5-2 decision in the championship game against host Florida State. For his performances, he was named the tournament's MVP. He was likewise named the outstanding athlete in the Metro Conference Spring Tournaments, which also included track, golf, and tennis. Francingues finished the season with a 16-2 mark and recently signed with the Minnesota Twins. He is currently assigned to Wisconsin-Rapids, a Minnesota farm club in the Class A Midwest League.
