Browne, a standout golfer, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for June of 1980. Browne, who was a star athlete at Jesuit and Tulane before losing his sight after an automobile accident in 1966, was cited for his third consecutive win in the U.S. National Blind Golfers Championship in June at the New Orleans Country Club.
