Wesley, a 6-6 junior for the UNO men's basketball team, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for January of 1997. Wesley led the Privateers in scoring (14.1 points per game) and rebounding (9.3 per game) as the Privateers won nine of 10 January games and took the lead in the conference standings. He was selected as the Sun Belt and Louisiana Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 2.
