Corcoran, a star running back at John Curtis, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for December of 1996. Corcoran helped lead the Patriots to the Class 4A state championship as he rushed 13 times for 124 yards in the championship game. He was named Curtis' Most Valuable Player.
