Smith, Tulane's standout quarterback, was named the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for November of 1990. During November, he completed 32-of-67 passes for 395 yards and four touchdowns as the Green Wave defeated Syracuse, 26-24, and los to LSU, 16-13.
