Jacquelin Patricia Bisso made her initial splash on the New Orleans sports scene when she won the Audubon Golf Club championship at age 12. Bisso married Archie Higgins, who had been a classmate at Isidore Newman School, in 1942 as he prepared to depart to serve in World War II.

She would go on to win the New Orleans city golf championship nine times and the Metairie Country Club title numerous times, while also capturing the Ladies Country Club Association and the Louisiana State Women’s Golf Association championships. She was the Louisiana Women’s Amateur Champion in both 1949 and 1951. In 1961, Higgins was selected as the Louisiana Woman Athlete of the Year – she had been named the New Orleans Amateur Athlete of the Month for April of that same year. She was the runner-up in the 1960 Southern Women’s Golf Association Championship in 1960.

Higgins passed away in 1973 after a battle with leukemia.
