John Arthurs

Former Green Wave Basketball All-American Johnny Arthurs (Born Aug. 15, 1947) was honored as one of five 2002 inductees into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame. Arthurs, who also starred locally at De La Salle High School, earned All-America honors (Helms Athletic Foundation and UPI) in 1969 for the Wave after registering school records with 666 points and 25.6 points per game. He also scored 19.4 points per game in 1968 and 15.4 in 1967. His single-game scoring high was 41 points. He graduated as Tulane’s all-time leading scorer with 1,501 points and a 20.3 points-per-game average in three years. After his collegiate career, Arthurs was a sixth-round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Draft.

Arthurs, who also played baseball for the Green Wave, is a member of the Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame (2001) and the Tulane T-Club Hall of Fame (1980).
