Allstate Sugar Bowl and National Football Foundation To Honor Scholar-Athletes

Annual Luncheon Will Recognize 40 New Orleans High School Football Players

NFF Scholar Athletes 2026 (pre-event v2)

NEW ORLEANS (April 15, 2026) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl Chapter of the National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame will hold its 2026 Awards Luncheon presented by LCMC Health on Wednesday, April 15. The highlight of the event will be the announcement of the winners of five college scholarships from the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Forty local high school football players will be recognized for their achievements in the classroom, in the community and on the football field. The honorees were chosen from a group of scholar athletes from the New Orleans area that were nominated by their schools. Each of the 40 student athletes will be introduced individually with their accomplishments highlighted at the event. From that group of 40, five will be selected to receive Allstate Sugar Bowl Scholarships: four for $10,000 each and one for $20,000. The scholarship winners are chosen based on their accomplishments as well as essays submitted after being notified of their selection as scholar-athletes.

In addition to the high school honorees, two sports industry leaders will be recognized for their contributions to the community and the sport of football.

The New Orleans Chapter of the National Football Foundation was established in 1971. The Sugar Bowl took over sponsorship of the chapter in 2000 and since then it has recognized over 700 student-athletes while distributing over $800,000 in scholarship money.
