Manning Award

Missouri State's Jacob Clark Selected as Manning Award Quarterback of the Week

Manning QB Missouri State Jacob Clark NEW ORLEANS (September 10, 2025) – Fans have selected Jacob Clark of Missouri State as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. He earned the honor over seven other Manning Award Stars of the Week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl's online fan voting contest. Clark is the first Missouri State quarterback to be recognized by the Manning Award – this is the program's first year as an FBS member and it is the 136th school to have a Manning Award Star of the Week.

Clark, a senior from Rockwall, Texas, posted his ninth career 300-yard passing game and eclipsed 5,000 career passing yards to help Missouri State overcome a 13-point second-half deficit to defeat Marshall, 21-20, on the road Saturday for the Bears' first victory as an FBS program.

He finished 21-of-31 with 359 yards and three touchdowns and tacked on 30 rushing yards to give him 389 yards of total offense. He also snagged the first reception of his career with a 29-yard catch. He was 5-for-5 through the air on MSU's game-winning drive, marching the Bears 80 yards on nine plays, including a key 3rd-and-14 completion for 55 yards to Ramone Green Jr. to set up the eventual winning score.

Missouri State will welcome SMU to Plaster Stadium for its home opener on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on the CBS Sports Network.

The other Manning Award Stars of the Week were Steve Angeli (Syracuse), Aidan Chiles (Michigan State), Cale Hellums (Army), John Mateer (Oklahoma), Beau Pribula (Missouri), Sawyer Robertson (Baylor), and Blake Shapen (Mississippi State).

In its first 21 years, the Manning Award has recognized the top names in college football. It has honored quarterbacks from 15 different schools and from four different conferences. The Southeastern Conference (Jayden Daniels, Stetson Bennett, Bryce Young, Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, JaMarcus Russell and Tim Tebow) leads the way with nine Manning Award honorees, while the Big 12 Conference (Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Vince Young, Colt McCoy and Robert Griffin III) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (Cam Ward, Deshaun Watson twice, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston) have each had five winners.

All the Manning Award winners follow in the footsteps of the Mannings themselves. In college, Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning combined for over 25,000 passing yards and 201 touchdowns while playing in 10 bowl games and earning four bowl MVP awards. Archie was the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, while both Peyton and Eli were selected No. 1 overall.
