NEW ORLEANS (September 3, 2024) – The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, has named eight quarterbacks as its "Stars of the Week." College football fans can follow the Manning Award on social media (@ManningAward) to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 9 a.m. (Central), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.

The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 519 different quarterbacks from 133 schools have been recognized. Sixty-six players were honored during the 2022 season.

This week's eight Manning Award Stars of the Week are:

Drew Allar, Penn State (11-of-17, 260 total yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 98.3)
Allar, who becomes the first Penn State quarterback to throw for three touchdowns in one quarter since 2016, leads the Nittany Lions to a big second quarter as they pull away for a 34-12 road win over West Virginia

Carson Beck, Georgia (23-of-33, 297 total yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 91.7)
Beck helped the Bulldogs, who were playing without their top two running backs, break open a tight game with a big second half as No. 1 Georgia cruises to a 34-3 victory over No. 14 Clemson.

Josh Hoover, TCU (28-of-42, 350 total yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 65.4)
Hoover, who passed for two touchdowns and ran for another, led the Horned Frogs on the go-ahead drive by completing all six of his passes including a 4-yard TD pass with 3:13 to go to lift TCU to a 34-27 victory over Stanford on the road.

Kyle McCord, Syracuse (27-of-39, 353 total yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT, QBR: 82.1)
McCord recorded career-bests for passing yards, completions, and touchdowns, as well as coming one TD pass short of the school record, as the Orange posted a 38-22 win over Ohio.

Owen McCown, UTSA (28-of-38, 340 total yards, 4 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 71.1)
McCown, making his second start at UTSA, directed three first-half scoring drives and finished with career-highs for completions and passing yards as he led the Roadrunners to a 28-16 win over Kennesaw State.

Chandler Morris, North Texas (32-of-41, 432 total yards, 5 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 90.3)
Morris, who recorded his second career 400-yard game, helped the Mean Green erase a first-half deficit with a 28-point third quarter in a 52-38 road win over South Alabama.

Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt (12-of-16, 294 total yards, 3 TDs, QBR: 82.6)
Pavia, who recorded his third career game with 100 passing yards and 100 rushing yards, capped a sensational Vanderbilt debut by running for a four-yard touchdown in overtime to lead the Commodores to a 34-27 victory over Virginia Tech.

Cam Ward, Miami (26-of-35, 418 total yards, 3 TDs, QBR: 95.7)
Ward made his Miami debut and lived up to hopes by becoming the first Hurricane since at least 1979 to throw for 300 yards in his debut as he led the U to a 41-17 road win over rival Florida.

While the Manning Award selected 29 quarterbacks for its preseason Watch List, additional quarterbacks are expected to be added to the Watch List later in the season. Finalists will be selected in early December and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.

In its first 20 years, the Manning Award has recognized the top names in college football. It has honored quarterbacks from 14 different schools and from four different conferences. The Southeastern Conference (Jayden Daniels, Stetson Bennett, Bryce Young, Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, JaMarcus Russell and Tim Tebow) leads the way with nine Manning Award honorees, while the Big 12 Conference (Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Vince Young, Colt McCoy and Robert Griffin III) has had five winners. The Atlantic Coast Conference (Deshaun Watson twice, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston) has had four Manning Award winners. LSU (Daniels, Burrow, and Russell) now leads the way with three honorees, while Alabama (Bryce Young and Jones), Oklahoma (Murray and Mayfield), and Texas (McCoy and Vince Young) have each produced a pair of Manning Award winners.

All the Manning Award winners follow in the footsteps of the Mannings themselves. In college, Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning combined for over 25,000 passing yards and 201 touchdowns while playing in 10 bowl games and earning four bowl MVP awards. Archie was the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, while both Peyton and Eli were selected No. 1 overall.
