NEW ORLEANS (November 19, 2024) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced this week's
Manning Award Futures – four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. The recognition is entitled "Futures" as these high school stars are potential future candidates for the
Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation on an annual basis. It was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.
The Sugar Bowl has had the opportunity to recognize 101 quarterbacks from 49 different high schools since the honor's inception in 2020.
Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 11/19/24:
Camdan Braxton, McDonogh 35 (9-of-14, 148 yards, 2 TDs)
Braxton, who ran for touchdowns of three yards and one yard, delivered multiple big passes in the first (he only threw one second-half pass) as the Roneagles cruised to a 49-9 win over Riverdale in a Division I select playoff game at Pan American Stadium on Friday.
Caden Heck, Covington (12-of-30, 232 total yards, 3 TDs)
Heck, who passed for two touchdowns and ran for another, delivered a 23-yard touchdown pass with 50 seconds left to lift the 16th seeded Lions to a 36-29 victory over No. 17 Barbe in Division I non-select playoff action on Friday night at Jack Salter Stadium.
Landon LeBlanc, St. Charles Catholic (12-of-15, 112 yards, 4 TDs)
LeBlanc, who threw four touchdown passes, helped lead the 12th-seeded Comets to one of their most complete games of the year as they topped No. 21 Northside in the first round of the Division II select playoffs on Friday at Thomas Dupuy Stadium.
Brody Smith, Archbishop Hannan (13-of-21, 288 total yards, 2 TDs)
Smith passed for a score and ran for another as the 22nd-seeded Hawks jumped out to a 22-7 halftime lead and held on for a 29-20 Division II select playoff win over No. 11 St. Michael on Friday – it was just the second win of the season for Hannan.

Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 29 national champions, 107 Hall of Fame players, 52 Hall of Fame coaches and 21 Heisman Trophy winners in its 90-year history. The 91st Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, which will double as a College Football Playoff Quarterfinal, is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2025. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards, scholarships and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors thousands of student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.5 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
