The Sugar Bowl has a long
history with the sport of tennis. It sponsored a junior tennis tournament from 1948-1993. It evolved into a collegiate and international tourney from 1994 to 2001. The junior tennis tournament debuted in 2016 and was contested for four years before COVID forced its cancellation in 2020 and 2021. Damages to the City Park Tennis Center from Hurricane Ida cancelled the 2022 event. However, last year, it returned to the elite level with a high-quality, entertaining event.
