Manning Award

Army’s Bryson Daily Selected as Manning Award Quarterback of the Week

Senior Star Earns Second Honor of the Season

Bryson Daily week 8 NEW ORLEANS (October 23, 2024) – Fans have selected Bryson Daily of Army as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. He earned the honor over seven other Manning Award Stars of the Week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl's online fan voting contest. This is his second win this season as he was also recognized after his week 6 performance in Army's 42-7 win over Tulsa.

Daily, a senior from Abernathy, Texas, accounted for all six of Army's touchdowns in a 45-28 AAC victory over East Carolina. He rushed 31 times for a career-high 171 yards and found the end zone five times. Through the air, Daily completed 7-of-10 passes for a season-best 147 yards and a touchdown.

Daily became the first Army player since 1916 to account for six touchdowns in a game, while his five rushing touchdowns tied the program record. He also broke the school's single-season records for both touchdowns responsible for (26) and rushing touchdowns (19).

In addition to the Manning Award honor, Daily was also named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week as he led the Black Knights to its 11th consecutive win.

Army is 7-0 headed into their bye weekend. They will host Air Force on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. CT, televised by CBS and Paramount +.

The other Manning Award Stars of the Week were Billy Edwards (Maryland), Ethan Garbers (UCLA), Jake Retzlaff (BYU), Sawyer Robertson (Baylor), Cole Snyder (Eastern Michigan), Cam Ward (Miami), and Ben Wooldridge (Louisiana).

While the Manning Award selected 29 quarterbacks for its preseason Watch List, additional quarterbacks will be added to the Watch List on October 24. Finalists will be selected in early December and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.

In its first 20 years, the Manning Award has recognized the top names in college football. It has honored quarterbacks from 14 different schools and from four different conferences. The Southeastern Conference (Jayden Daniels, Stetson Bennett, Bryce Young, Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, JaMarcus Russell and Tim Tebow) leads the way with nine Manning Award honorees, while the Big 12 Conference (Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Vince Young, Colt McCoy and Robert Griffin III) has had five winners. The Atlantic Coast Conference (Deshaun Watson twice, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston) has had four Manning Award winners. LSU (Daniels, Burrow, and Russell) now leads the way with three honorees, while Alabama (Bryce Young and Jones), Oklahoma (Murray and Mayfield), and Texas (McCoy and Vince Young) have each produced a pair of Manning Award winners.

All the Manning Award winners follow in the footsteps of the Mannings themselves. In college, Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning combined for over 25,000 passing yards and 201 touchdowns while playing in 10 bowl games and earning four bowl MVP awards. Archie was the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, while both Peyton and Eli were selected No. 1 overall.
