Manning Futures 10-3-23

NEW ORLEANS (October 3, 2023) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced this week's Manning Award Futures – four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. The recognition is entitled "Futures" as these high school stars are potential future candidates for the Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation on an annual basis. It was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

The Sugar Bowl has had the opportunity to recognize 69 quarterbacks from 38 different high schools since the honor's inception in 2020.

Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 10/3/23:

Generald Buggage, Archbishop Rummel (8-of-13, 219 total yards, 3 TDs)
Buggage passed for 143 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 76 yards and another score as he led the Raiders to a 42-12 win over Scotlandville in a non-district showdown in Baton Rouge on Friday.

Dagan Bruno, John Curtis Christian (323 total yards, 3 TDs)
Bruno turned in a tremendous effort, passing for 167 yards and running for 156 yards, but it wasn't enough as the Patriots suffered a tough loss to Holy Cross, 42-41, in a District 9-5A game at Tad Gormley Stadium on Saturday.

Cole Canatella, Holy Cross (18-of-26, 237 yards, 2 TDs)
Canatella took a snap with seven seconds to go and rolled right before delivering a 32-yard TD pass with the clock at zero – he was then the lead blocker on the winning two-point conversion run as the Tigers defeated John Curtis, 42-41, in a District 9-5A game at Tad Gormley Stadium on Saturday to snap a nine-game losing streak to the Patriots.
