The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 464 different quarterbacks from 129 schools have been recognized. Sixty-seven players from 66 different schools were honored during the 2021 season.

This week's eight Manning Award Stars of the Week are:

Austin Aune, North Texas (25-of-34, 414 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INT, QBR: 89.3)
Aune, who throws for 384 yards and all of his TDs in the first half, sets his career-high for passing yards while matching his best for passing TDs as he leads the Mean Green to an early 38-0 advantage as they cruise to a 52-14 C-USA win over FIU.

Stetson Bennett, Georgia (17-of-25, 257 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 98.1)
Bennett, who opens the scoring with a 13-yard run, adds a pair of passing touchdowns as the Bulldogs upend No. 1 Tennessee, 27-13, in a huge SEC showdown.

Jayden Daniels, LSU (22-of-32, 182 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 85.4)
Daniels, who runs for 95 yards, breaks free for a 25-yard TD run in overtime and then connects on a successful two-point conversion pass as the Tigers pick up a huge SEC victory over No. 6 Alabama, 32-31.

Jaren Hall, BYU (29-of-42, 377 yards, 3 TDs, 2 INT, QBR: 89.7)
Hall, who also runs for 83 yards and a touchdown, connects on a six-yard TD delivery on a fourth-down play with 1:46 to go to lift the Cougars to a 31-28 road victory over Boise State.

Tanner Mordecai, SMU (28-of-37, 379 yards, 9 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 98.5)
Mordecai, who adds a rushing touchdown, leads the Mustangs to touchdowns on their first nine drives of the game as he sets a school-record for TD passes in a 77-63 AAC win over Houston – a game which sets the FBS record for regulation scoring for both teams.

Bo Nix, Oregon (20-of-24, 274 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 91.9)
Nix becomes the first FBS player since 2001 to pass for two touchdowns, run for two scores and catch a TD pass as he leads the Ducks to a 49-10 Pac-12 victory over Colorado.

Austin Reed, Western Kentucky (23-of-38, 409 yards, 6 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 76.9)
Reed connects on touchdown passes to five different receivers in the first half and then adds another quick one in the third quarter as the Hilltoppers roll to a 59-7 C-USA win over Charlotte.

Kurtis Rourke, Ohio (20-of-29, 317 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT, QBR: 93.7)
Rourke, who also runs for 45 yards, connects on three first-half touchdowns as the Bobcats build a 24-3 advantage on route to snapping Buffalo's five-game winning streak in a 45-24 MAC victory.

While the Manning Award selected 30 quarterbacks for its preseason Watch List and then made 12 midseason additions in October, all quarterbacks remain eligible for the honor. Ten finalists will be selected and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.

In its first 18 years, the Manning Award has recognized the top names in college football. It has honored quarterbacks from 13 different schools and from four different conferences. The Southeastern Conference (Bryce Young, Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, JaMarcus Russell and Tim Tebow) leads the way with seven Manning Award honorees, while the Big 12 Conference (Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Vince Young, Colt McCoy and Robert Griffin III) has had five winners. The Atlantic Coast Conference (Deshaun Watson twice, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston) has had four Manning Award winners. Alabama (Bryce Young and Jones) joins LSU (Burrow and Russell), Oklahoma (Murray and Mayfield) and Texas (McCoy and Vince Young) as the only schools with two different winners.

All the Manning Award winners follow in the footsteps of the Mannings themselves. In college, Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning combined for over 25,000 passing yards and 201 touchdowns while playing in 10 bowl games and earning four bowl MVP awards. Archie was the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, while both Peyton and Eli were selected No. 1 overall.
