Manning Award Futures – four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. Fans now have the opportunity to go to Twitter (

The
Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation on an annual basis, was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.
Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 10/4/22:
Keddrick Connelly, Warren Easton (308 yards, 2 TDs)
Connelly, who connects on a 79-yard TD pass in the third quarter, helps Warren Easton pile up over 600 yards of offense in a 69-35 win over John Ehret at Pan American Stadium.
Jalen Guillard, East Jefferson (6-of-15, 180 total yards, 4 TDs)
Guillard passed for 135 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 55 yards and another score and also starred on defense with 12 tackles and three interceptions, including one that he returned for a touchdown in a 35-6 victory over Higgins.
Arch Manning, Newman (18-of-29, 357 yards, 7 TDs)
Manning set school records for passing TDs in a game, career passing touchdowns (breaking uncle Eli's record) and career passing yardage (breaking uncle Peyton's record) as the Greenies rolled to a 52-22 victory over Pearl River.
AJ Samuel, Edna Karr (13-of-21, 298 total yards, 3 TDs)
Samuel, who also led the team with 78 yards on eight carries, connects on three passing scores as the Cougars cruised to another victory, this one 40-7 over Brother Martin in a District 9-5A contest.
The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 100 Hall of Fame players, 51 Hall of Fame coaches and 20 Heisman Trophy winners in its 88-year history. The 89th annual Sugar Bowl Classic is scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 31, 2022. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards, scholarships and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors thousands of student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.2 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
