Allstate Sugar Bowl Announces Latest Manning Award Futures

Four Nola area QBs spotlighted by the Sugar Bowl; fans can vote for favorite on Twitter

Manning Award Futures, 10/18/22NEW ORLEANS (October 18, 2022) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced this week's Manning Award Futures – four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. Fans now have the opportunity to go to Twitter (@SugarBowlNola) to vote for their favorite performance of the week.

The Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation on an annual basis, was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.
 
Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 10/18/22:
 
McAllister Callejo, Country Day (8-of-10, 115 yards, 5 TDs)
Callejo, only a sophomore, led the Cajuns to a 37-point first half as they rolled to a 51-7 non-district victory over The Willow School.
 
Cooper DesRoches, Mandeville (17-of-20, 285 total yards, 3 TDs)
DesRoches connected on a pair of first-half TD passes while leading the Skipper offense to 36 points as they posted a dominant 50-7 dismantling of Fontainebleau in District 6-5A action.
 
Luke Guidry, Slidell (21-of-31, 312 yards, 2 TDs)
Guidry completed passes to eight different receivers to overcome an early deficit in a 37-20 road win over District 6-5A opponent Ponchatoula.
 
Jayce LaCava, Archbishop Shaw (10-of-14, 179 total yards, 1 TD)
LaCava added 12 carries for 89 yards and a touchdown as the Eagles topped Belle Chasse, 38-14, in a District 10-4A road game.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 100 Hall of Fame players, 51 Hall of Fame coaches and 20 Heisman Trophy winners in its 88-year history. The 89th annual Sugar Bowl Classic is scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 31, 2022. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards, scholarships and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors thousands of student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.2 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
