The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 464 different quarterbacks from 129 schools have been recognized. Sixty-seven players from 66 different schools were honored during the 2021 season.

This week's eight Manning Award Stars of the Week are:

Trenton Bourguet, Arizona State (15-of-21, 182 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, QBR: 93.9)
Bourguet, a former walk-on, comes off the bench for the first significant action of his career and tosses three touchdown passes including the go-ahead delivery in the fourth quarter as the Sun Devils shock No. 21 Washington, 45-38, in Pac-12 play.

Todd Centeio, James Madison (28-of-37, 394 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 82.2)
Centeio tallies his season-best for passing yards, completions and attempts as he connects on a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to lift the undefeated Dukes into the AP Top 25 for the first time in history with a 42-20 Sun Belt road win over Arkansas State.

Max Duggan, TCU (23-of-33, 308 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, QBR: 83.8)
Duggan, who also runs for 55 yards and a touchdown, throws three second-half touchdowns, including the game-winning 24-yard TD connection with 1:36 to go as TCU takes down No. 19 Kansas, 38-31, in a Big 12 road game.

Quinn Ewers, Texas (21-of-31, 289 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT, QBR: 92.3)
Ewers returns after missing three games due to injury and tallies career-highs in nearly every category as he leads the Longhorns to a 49-0 crushing of archrival Oklahoma in a Big 12 showdown.

C.J. Stroud, Ohio State (21-of-26, 361 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT, QBR: 97.9)
Stroud ties the school record for single-game touchdown passes – his third time with six in a game to set a Big Ten record – as he leads the Buckeyes to a 49-20 Big Ten blowout of Michigan State on the road.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA (18-of-23, 299 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT, QBR: 94.9)
Thompson-Robinson, who also runs for a touchdown, connects on a 70-yard TD hook-up in the fourth quarter to help the undefeated Bruins pull away from No. 11 Utah in a critical 42-32 Pac-12 victory.

Clayton Tune, Houston (36-of-57, 366 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, QBR: 69.6)
Tune connects on two touchdown passes in the final 1:17 as the Cougars erase a 19-point fourth-quarter deficit in a thrilling 33-32 AAC road win over Memphis.

Kurtis Rourke, Ohio (24-of-27, 427 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 95.4)
Rourke, who notches his fourth 300-yard game of the season, connects on a pair of third-quarter touchdowns to break open the Bobcats MAC showdown with Akron in a 55-34 win.

While the Manning Award selected 30 quarterbacks for its preseason Watch List, additional quarterbacks are expected to be added to the Watch List later in the season. Ten finalists will be selected and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.

In its first 18 years, the Manning Award has recognized the top names in college football. It has honored quarterbacks from 13 different schools and from four different conferences. The Southeastern Conference (Bryce Young, Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, JaMarcus Russell and Tim Tebow) leads the way with seven Manning Award honorees, while the Big 12 Conference (Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Vince Young, Colt McCoy and Robert Griffin III) has had five winners. The Atlantic Coast Conference (Deshaun Watson twice, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston) has had four Manning Award winners. Alabama (Bryce Young and Jones) joins LSU (Burrow and Russell), Oklahoma (Murray and Mayfield) and Texas (McCoy and Vince Young) as the only schools with two different winners.

All the Manning Award winners follow in the footsteps of the Mannings themselves. In college, Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning combined for over 25,000 passing yards and 201 touchdowns while playing in 10 bowl games and earning four bowl MVP awards. Archie was the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, while both Peyton and Eli were selected No. 1 overall.
