Lucien Tujague - August 1978 Athlete of the Month

Tujague, a standout for the New Orleans Boosters, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for August of 1978. Tujague's bat sparked NORD-Candies into the finals of the All-American Baseball Tournament in Johnstown, Pa. Althought the New Orleans-based team lost to Detroit in the finals, 7-6, Tujague batted .438 in the tournament (14-for-32), scored seven runs and drove in 11. He hit safely in all seven games and led all tournament players in batting average and RBI. He also smashed three home runs and two doubles.
Pitcher Paul Mancuso of the Conmaco American Legion team was awarded honorable mention in the voting for his pitching in the Southeast tournament as he posted a 5-2 record.
