The record-breaking relay team for the New Orleans Super Dames was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for June of 1975. The team of Tina Alexander, Geneva Stark, Bernardine Givens, and Wanda Nicholson set a U.S. record of 3:43.7 in the 440-relay in June. They eclipsed the old mark of 3:45.3 at the AAU Track & Field meet in White Plains, N.Y.
