Willie Richardson - December 1988 Athlete of the Month

Richardson, a UNO basketball star, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for December of 1988. Richardson led the Privateers to a surprising 4-3 start and capped the month by being named American South Conference Player of the Week for his play during the holidays. Richardson led the Privateers to a championship in the Jowers Jamboree in San Marcos, Texas, where he made the all-tournament team.
His top competition for December came from Holy Cross High School forward Beau Harvey, who averaged 24 points per game in the Bonnabel Tournament.
