Johnson, a scoring machine for the Bonnabel High School girls basketball team, was selected as the Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month for January of 1998. Johnson averaged 31.4 points per game during the month when the Bruins were a perfect 7-0. She scored 62 points against Higgins and 41 points against Grace King.
