NEW ORLEANS (November 4, 1975) – World-class sprinter Pam Jiles has been selected as the October Athlete of the Month by the Sugar Bowl Sports Awards Committee.
In October, Jiles was the 100-meter champion at the 1975 Pan American Games while also finishing second in the 200-meter dash and helping the 4×100-meter relay team to a gold medal. Jiles was ranked No. 6 in the world in the 100 and No. 4 in the 200 in 1975.
She also ran for Dillard University and the New Orleans Super Dames.
