The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances in its balloting.
This week’s eight Manning Award Stars of the Week are:
Taylor Cornelius, Oklahoma State (23-of-34, 321 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 96.1)
Cornelius also rushes for a pair of touchdowns for his third five-TD effort of the year as he leads the Cowboys to a 38-35 Big 12 upset of No. 6 Texas.
Eric Dungey, Syracuse (27-of-38, 411 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 79.7)
Dungey, who also rushes for a touchdown, records his third career 400-yard game as he leads his team to a 51-41 ACC victory over No. 22 NC State to launch the Orange into the AP Top-25 for the first time since 2001.
Nick Fitzgerald, Mississippi State (14-of-22, 241 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 86.5)
Fitzgerald also runs for 88 yards and two touchdowns, his ninth career four-TD effort, as he leads the Bulldogs to a 28-13 SEC victory over No. 16 Texas A&M.

King also runs for 132 yards and two touchdowns, posting his third 400-yard game and his second 100-yard rushing game, as he leads the Cougars to a 57-36 win over previously undefeated USF in AAC action.
Jordan Love, Utah State (23-of-34, 448 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 96.9)
Love, who also rushes for a touchdown, notches his career-best in passing yards in just over two quarters of work as he leads the Aggies to 52 first-half points and a school-record 704 yards of offense in a 61-19 MW win over New Mexico.
Jake Luton, Oregon State (28-of-39, 310 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 88.0)
Luton, who only played after halftime, sets career-highs in nearly every category and tosses a 10-yard TD strike with 29 seconds to go in regulation, forcing overtime as the Beavers erase a 28-point second-half deficit for a 41-34 road win over Colorado, their first Pac-12 win of the season.
Gardner Minshew, Washington State (40-of-50, 438 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, QBR: 91.6)
Minshew records his fifth 400-yard game of the year and directs the Cougars to the game-winning field with 19 seconds to go in a 41-38 Pac-12 road win over No. 24 Stanford.
The Manning Award selected 30 quarterbacks for its preseason Watch List and then added 15 more quarterbacks to the Watch List in the mid-season – however, all quarterbacks remain eligible for the award. The 10 finalists for the honor will be announced on Thursday, November 29 and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
In its first 14 years, the Manning Award has recognized the top names in college football. It has honored quarterbacks from 12 different schools and from four different conferences. The Big 12 Conference (Baker Mayfield, Vince Young, Colt McCoy and Robert Griffin III) joins the Southeastern Conference (Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, JaMarcus Russell and Tim Tebow) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (Deshaun Watson twice, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston) with four Manning Award winners each, while Texas is the only school with two different winners (McCoy and Young).
All the Manning Award winners follow in the footsteps of the Mannings themselves. In college, Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning combined for over 25,000 passing yards and 201 touchdowns while playing in 10 bowl games and earning four bowl MVP awards. Archie was the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, while both Peyton and Eli were selected No. 1 overall.
In addition to the Manning Award’s yearly honor, each week during the regular season, eight quarterbacks are recognized as Manning Quarterbacks of the Week. Sixty-three players from 60 different schools were honored during the 2017 season.
