UNO Sweeps McNeese State in Homecoming Doubleheader

NEW ORLEANS (February 17, 2018) – The University of New Orleans men’s and women’s basketball teams swept McNeese State to cap a successful Homecoming Weekend sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
In the men’s game, UNO posted a 90-74 victory as Makur Puou finished with a career-high 23 points to go with eight rebounds. Travin Thibodeaux and Bryson Robinson took over in the second half as the Privateers clinched a Southland Conference Tournament playoff spot with the lopsided victory.
Puou was 9-of-12 overall in his second to last home game while Thibodeaux played the role of facilitator early, collecting seven assists and six boards to go with 18 points. Robinson scored all 14 points in the second half and added three assists and Lamont Berzat finished with seven points, six assists and four steals.
In the women’s match-up, Shania Woods had a game to remember, leading a trio of double-digit scorers with a career-high 31 on 9-of-12 shooting in UNO’s 84-62 victory. Woods added 11 rebounds for her 11thdouble-double of the season. Randi Brown collected 16 points, three assists and three steals and Mariah Wright scored 11 points to go with five assists and three steals. Halie Matthews came off the bench with 11 boards and two blocks and Jada Duncantell was credited with four steals.
