NEW ORLEANS (March 29, 2015) – The University of New Orleans won two-of-three games in its Allstate Sugar Bowl-sponsored weekend series with Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The Privateer bats were potent in the series opener as UNO had a season-best in runs in its 11-1 victory. Five different players had multiple hits for UNO, including a three-hit outing for Parker Jones. Privateers starter, Alex Smith was in command throughout the night. Smith did not allow a walk nor a hit batter through seven innings of work.
The second game of the series saw the Golden Lions jump out to a 7-2 advantage as they held on for an 8-3 victory. Uno was led by two-hit days from Ryan Calloway and Preston Marsh.
In Sunday’s rubber match, Parker Jones ripped a bases-loaded single up the middle in the bottom of the 10th inning to snap a 4-4 tie and give the Privateers the walk-off victory. Jonathan Coco and Preston marsh each tallied three hits while Hezekiah Randolph collected a pair of hits including the critical game-tying single in the eighth inning.
