Teams for the 2020 Allstate Sugar Bowl will be announced on Sunday, December 8 via an ESPN national telecast. The Allstate Sugar Bowl will host the champions of the Big 12 Conference and the SEC unless either or both of those champions are selected for the College Football Playoff. If either of the champions do qualify for the playoff, a highly-ranked replacement team from the conference(s) will play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Other activities during the week of the Allstate Sugar Bowl will include the Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade, the Allstate Sugar Bowl Fan Jam and a special New Year’s Eve event in the French Quarter. The New Year’s Eve Parade is a Mardi Gras-style parade with floats, bands and other participants on the afternoon of December 31 in the French Quarter. Fan Jam is a Game Day party located at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome featuring local New Orleans bands and interactive events.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 93 Hall of Fame players, 50 Hall of Fame coaches and 18 Heisman Trophy winners in its 85-year history. The 86th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, featuring top teams from the Big 12 and the SEC, will be played on January 1, 2020. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1.6 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors nearly 100,000 student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.5 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
