  • Purchased the New Orleans Pelicans baseball franchise in the late 1950s.
  • Served as chairman of the Louisiana State Racing Commission and nine years as president of the National Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association.
  • Inducted into the HBPA's Racing Hall of Fame.
  • Part of the early days of professional football in New Orleans as he organized a Pittsburgh Steelers-Green Bay Packers exhibition game in 1960 that was attended by 16,500 fans at City Park Stadium.
  • Also a member of the Sam Houston State University Hall of Fame after a football (1927-30) and basketball (1930-31) career with the Bearkats.
