UConn Wins Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Regatta

The University of Connecticut took top honors in the annual Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Regatta on Dec. 30-31 on Lake Ponchartrain. The Huskies out-sailed 12 other colleges to take the title. Tulane University finished in second place in the event which featured temperatures in the 70s on both days.

This marked the fifth weekend of regatta action for the Sugar Bowl. Over Thanksgiving, the Optimist Midwinters attracted nearly 250 sailors from 10-15 years old. On Nov. 20-21, the Great Oaks Regatta featured 38 high school teams and over 150 sailors. The Bowl hosted its high school and PHRF regattas on Dec. 4-5; and the Board Boats and One-Design categories competed on Dec. 18-19. The final Allstate Sugar Bowl Regatta event is the Intercollegiate Regatta on Dec. 30-31.
