Second College Football Playoff Rankings Released

(November 7, 2017) – The Selection Committee for the College Football Playoff (CFP) released its second rankings of the year on Tuesday evening. The group’s Top 25 was officially announced on a live ESPN broadcast. The committee will continue to update the rankings each Tuesday through November 28, with the final rankings being released on Sunday, December 3 on ESPN.

“From No. 1 to No. 25 in our rankings, the committee had intense discussions this week,” said selection committee chairman Kirby Hocutt. “Our task remains to decide who, at this point in time, are the best teams in the nation and then to rank them. We begin with a clean sheet of paper each week, looking at each team’s performance.”

The Allstate Sugar Bowl (Monday, January 1, 2018) will host two of the top four teams in one of the College Football Playoff Semifinals. The other Playoff Semifinal will be hosted by the Rose Bowl, also on January 1.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl will host the Big 12 and the SEC seven times in the next 10 years. The other three seasons (2017, 2020 and 2023), the Allstate Sugar Bowl will serve as a College Football Playoff Semifinal.
