Mount Carmel’s Meghan Patterson Is April Athlete of the Month
NEW ORLEANS (May 5, 2008) – Meghan Patterson, a sophomore pitcher at Mount Carmel, was named the Allstate Sugar Bowl Amateur Athlete of the Month for April, as voted on by the greater New Orleans Sports Selection Committee.

Patterson led the Cubs to their first state softball championship, pitching MCA to victories over Central (5-2), Byrd (2-1) and Pineville in the championship game. In the title game, Patterson hurled 11 shutout innings in the 1-0 victory.
In those three games, Patterson allowed just 10 hits and struck out 38 batters in 25 innings.
The Greater New Orleans Sports Awards Committee has been selecting an Amateur Athlete of the Month each month since 1957. The athlete must be a native of the greater New Orleans area or must compete for a team in the metropolitan region in order to be eligible.
