JVA World Volleyball Challenge to be Hosted by Allstate Sugar Bowl park
The Allstate Sugar Bowl will sponsor the JVA World Challenge on April 2-4 at the Ernest J. Morial Convention Center. The event will feature over 200 girls youth volleyball teams from the United States and Canada. The top two teams in each division will be awarded free entry to the AAU Championships to be held in June in Orlando.
Tickets for the event are available at the Convention Center: Adults, $8/day and $20/event pass; Youth, $4/day and $10/event pass. Children under 5 will be admitted free.
"We are very pleased to partner with the Allstate Sugar Bowl to bring this event to the city of New Orleans," said local host and co-tournament director Peggy Miranda. "It's a wonderful opportunity for fans to see some of the best junior volleyball action to ever come to this city. We are hosting many of the top club teams from around the country. Players from the US that have received high honors, such as College scholarship recipients, All Americans, and Gatorade Players of the Year will be participating, and teams from Canada and Puerto Rico are traveling to New Orleans to take part in this event."
There will be four different age groups competing with two divisions in each group (Open and Club). There will be eight champions determined on Sunday. In addition, there is a "Second Line" event scheduled for 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. With close to 1,000 participants, the event hopes to set the record for the longest Second Line in history.
