Sugar Bowl In Memoriam

Charles “Charlie” V. Cusimano, a member of the Sugar Bowl Committee since 1973, died peacefully on March 28, 2020 at the age of 92. A native of New Orleans, Charlie attended Holy Cross High School before lettering in football at LSU and playing in the 1950 Sugar Bowl. After earning his B.S. in petroleum engineering in 1951, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Cusimano went on to a very successful career in the energy industry and was inducted into the LSU Engineering Hall of Distinction in 1999. He also served 32 years on the LSU System Board of Supervisors. Charlie is survived by four children, including Sugar Bowl Committee member Charles V. Cusimano II; son-in-law Keith Daigle, also a Committee member; 18 grandchildren, including Committee member Charles V. Cusimano III; and forty-two great grandchildren.
