Throughout the 2017 campaign, Williams has produced highlights nearly each time he touched the ball. He has amassed 2,934 rushing yards with 37 touchdowns. He, literally, takes over games. In the month of November, Williams played in four games, all victories for the Tigers. He rushed 104 times for 1,084 yards (10.4 yard avg.) and 13 touchdowns and he returned one kickoff for 51 yards as the 10th-seeded Tigers advanced to the semifinals of the Class 5A state playoffs. The 5-8, 165-pound Williams is a Kansas commitment.

Williams continued his dazzling efforts in December as he ran for 234 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime as Nick Saltaformaggio’s Tigers upended third-seed Acadiana, 43-42. Hahnville will play for the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Class 5A state championship tomorrow (Saturday) at 7 p.m. The Tigers will battle No. 4 Zachary.

Also nominated for the November honor were Mount Carmel volleyball star Ellie Holzman and University of Nebraska star receiver Stanley Morgan, Jr. Holzman, a junior middle blocker, was named the MVP of the Division I volleyball state championship. She finished the season with 744 kills, 440 digs, 128 blocks and 40 aces. Morgan, a St. Aug graduate, capped off an excellent junior campaign by catching 22 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns in November. He had an outstanding performance in a 56-44 loss to Penn State, tallying seven catches for 185 yards, the second-most receiving yards in school history.
